made from 100% blue weber agave, meticulously grown in the lowland region of Jalisco, Mexico

The Land
The land upon which our agave is grown and harvested is located in Tequila, Mexico, with over 400 acres (480 hectares) of agave fields fully owned & operated by our distiller, ensuring complete control over the quality of the tequila we produce.
Our distiller is committed to environmental responsibility and continuous improvement in all aspects, including the reuse & recycling of water that meets quality parameters in production processes, and solid waste composting & repurposing as fertilizer in the agave fields.

Harvesting
The harvesting process, known as “jima,” is led by our family-owned distillers’ team of professionals.
Patience is perhaps the most important ingredient you’ll taste in Carabuena Tequila — our agave is only harvested once it has fully matured, which takes around six years, and only the best piñas are used for Carabuena Tequila.
Once harvested, the agave’s leaves are stripped away to reveal the heart of the plant, known as the “piña.” The piña is then slow-cooked in a traditional masonry oven.

Cooking & Distillation
After the agave is steamed for 30-35 hours, the flavorful juice that remains is distilled twice — first in stainless steel stills, then in traditional copper alembic stills, which removes impurities and enhances the tequila’s character.
Through a slow distillation process, we are able to preserve the natural aromas and flavors that come from the fermentation, giving Carabuena an unequaled flavor profile. We use safe, commercial yeast to initiate fermentation, ensuring consistency without compromising quality, and only juice — not fiber — is used in the distillation process for Carabuena.
Our Tequila Blanco is filtered and bottled directly after distillation, resulting in a crystal clear tequila that finishes clean.
One of the key elements in the production of our Reposado and Añejo are the blended American & French oak barrels in which they age, preserving every bit of flavor during their resting time. All barrels are medium-toast, contributing depth wihtout overpowering the agave.
Our Reposado ages for 5 months, and our Añejo for 12 months, giving each their respective color and flavor profiles.

Bottling
Carabuena takes pride in using 100% recycled glass for our hand-blown bottles, which are manufactured in Tonalá, Jalisco.
With more than 20 years in the industry and a deep commitment to efficient environmental practices, our glass craftsmen find their raw materials in recycled glass from the Jalisco area, melting down thousands of pounds of glass every day, which in turn find new life as Carabuena bottles.
Each bottle is made possible through preserved cultural traditions combined with the mastery, talent, and artistic ability of these craftsmen.
Our bottle label artwork features the iconic spirits known as “nahuales” and are designed by Pistachie, a talented artist from Tabasco, Mexico.
